"Designer Pictionary" with Adam Fujita!

PoD alumn Adam Fujita has been experimenting with his Drawing Design course as part of the first-year, first-semester curriculum. Two days ago, Adam tried an experiment—a “Designer Pictionary” as he called it—and the results were wonderful (and raucous!) Here is Adam’s description, along with a handful of snapshots below:

“As a way to continue ‘warming up our visual thinking muscles’ during class this week, we played a game of Designer Pictionary. The students had 2 minutes maximum to rapidly sketch out—for the entire group to guess—phrases such as Zero Waste, Systems Thinking, Arduino, and 3D Prototype.”

“The real intent of the exercise was to get the students out of their heads and into their bodies.”

“While the game is fun (and got the energy in the room up to a level 10!) the real intent of the exercise was to get the students out of their heads and into their bodies. It also made everyone work as a large team—throwing out ideas of what they thought was being sketched. “

“An added bonus: We could feel the bonds being strengthened within the class; the confidence required to draw in front of a group helped to bolster many of the classmates. The end result was a beautiful sketch note of design concepts and tools that’s not only fun and informative to look at, but also radiates tremendous energy.”
