From Pica to Pixels: Tala Safié’s Design Journey - Full Video

Ever taken the New York Times ‘Succession’ quiz? Or scrolled through interactive pieces like 50 Rappers, 50 Stories or How Fan Culture is Swallowing Democracy?

Behind many of the Gray Lady’s most innovative visuals is graphics and multimedia editor Tala Safié, who possesses a brilliant sense of wit and a quick pulse on culture. As a designer and art director, Safié has pulled inspiration from Beirut to New York City, paper publications to online media, Meryl Streep to Lil Wayne. In her guest talk at Products of Design, she discusses her transition from print to digital, her penchant for playful experimentation, and the power that good design can wield.

Safié received a BFA in Graphic Design from the American University of Beirut and attended SVA for her MFA in Design. Check out her full talk in the video above, as well as a few snapshots below.
