Department Studio Space

The MFA Products of Design studio space, designed by architect Andrea Steele, features innovative classrooms with moving walls, a massive kitchen, and loads of natural light.

Where are we located?

We are located in the heart of the popular Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan. (We are just a couple blocks from the 1/2/3 and F/M trains!)

What is nearby?

Chelsea hosts myriad places perfect for design students. Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are steps away for groceries. Close to 100 art galleries are open for visitors. And tons of restaurants line every street and avenue in the district.

What tools and equipment do students use?

Students each have dedicated desks and storage areas, and all of our classroom tables and marker boards are on wheels for maximum flexibility. Next door, the Visible Futures Lab makerspace features

  • State-of-the-art digital fabrication machines (3D printers, scanners, printers/cutters, etc.)

  • Fully-equipped wood shop

  • Sewing, soldering/electronics machines and equipment

  • Machine tools, hand tools, specialty tools

If you’re in NYC, come by to take a tour. In the meantime, enjoy some snapshots of the space below:
