The Lockdown Playbook: Download, Color, and Donate
Each year, the first-year students create an interactive exhibition at Wanted Design Manhattan—exploring everything from gender to climate change to data profiling to socio-political priorities to the impact of social media, to the denial of access, to revealing the hidden elements of design—each a project resulting from the Design Performance class.
This year, of course, Wanted Design (along with all of the NYCxDESIGN celebration) was cancelled, and quarantined at home, the students researched and contemplate what “design performances” they could inpsire. Putting together a huge collection in what they branded The Lockdown PLAYbook—the result is a set of strategies and activities to give us hope, and help us triumph over the everyday challenges of the current quarantine.
The project is anchored around a central website. The activities take the form of storyboards, are broken down into 5 categories: EAT, PROTECT, SOCIALIZE, REST, AND EXERCISE, and within each section are multiple stories.
Accompanying the website is a downloadable PDF Coloring Book, where families can download all 70 illustrations, color them in, and then share them on social media.

In addition, the illustrations have been applied to products that visitors can order, where all proceeds donated to WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
