Jellyfish and mentrual pads and headless horsegirls, oh my!

This year’s student Halloween costumes—a favorite assignment in Becky Stern’s Making Studio class—leveraged programmable LEDs to create a titillating spectrum of lighting effects. Our first-year students applied their newly minted Arduino skills (as well as laser cutting, 3D printing, and more) to fabricate costumes featuring a blinking platter of ratatouille, a glowing clock from Alice in Wonderland, and a hyperrealistic recreation of Dr. Strange’s Tao Mandalas shield.

Needless to say, the costumes were a hit with parade attendees (not to mention newscasters—take a peek at the video further below).

A vibrant Stick Man dances for the crowds.

A blinking Hollywood vanity mirror walking alongside Linguine and (murderous?) Ratatouille.
