Shun Cheng Hsieh ’24 Selected for PLC x Wolverine Worldwide Certificate Program!

Congratulations to Shun Cheng Hsieh ’24 on being selected to join the PLC x Wolverine Worldwide Five-Week Certificate Program!

The program, run by the global footwear company Wolverine Worldwide, offers an incredible opportunity to collaborate with talented professionals. The company’s portfolio of brands includes Merrell, Saucony, and Sperry, Chaco, Bates, and Hush Puppies, a subset of which participate in the program and offer exceptional students a paid six-month apprenticeship.

For Hsieh’s submission, he created WildPursuit, a trail-running shoe designed specifically for adventurous women who embrace challenging terrains. Check out more below!

WildPursuit reflects Hsieh’s passion for empowering users through design that merges performance and functionality. Inspired by the strength and agility found in nature, the shoe features a dual-density midsole with embedded stability, an aggressive claw-like outsole for exceptional grip, and a breathable mesh and suede upper for comfort.

Hsieh has flexed his footwear talents in other award-winning projects, including Surge: Professional Skateboard Footwear, which he developed with a team at Products of Design for our Product, Brand, Experience course with Hlynur Atlason. Surge went on to receive a Student Notable, in Sports & Outdoors in the 2024 Core77 Design Awards.
