RE-ACTORS Wins Best of Schools Wanted Design/ICFF Award!
This year’s NYCxDESIGN exhibit by the student of Products of Design won the “Best of Schools Award” from ICFF +Wanted Design! The award was presented by the extraordinary CEO of Alessi, Emanuele Gaeti, who spoke eloquently about the students’ work and about what they had accomplished.
Intervention Design in Prospect Park
Located in the heart of Brooklyn, Prospect Park is an oasis of nature amidst a sea of apartment buildings. The park features rolling meadows, a 3.5-mile walking loop, playgrounds, and a majestic lake. It's a gorgeous environment that feels welcoming to visitors—but in the winter? Not so much. Students Cheryl Zhang, Corey McClelland, and Giancarlo Cipri teamed up to create interactive interventions to enhance the park experience throughout the year, specifically in the winter.
Announcing N9NTH: MFA Products of Design Thesis Presentations are May 6th!
We invite you to attend the Master’s Thesis Presentations of the 2022 graduating class of the MFA in Products of Design program live at the SVA Theatre on Friday, May 6th from 1:00pm - 5:00pm (EDT, GMT-4). Twelve graduating master’s students will each present their year-long thesis work, comprised of research, artifacts, services, experiences, and platforms.
DESIGN:MATCH — Our Annual Products of Design Job Fair
Every year in February, MFA Products of Design invites and hosts world-leading organizations and companies to spend the afternoon interviewing our students. Each student meets with approximately 10 companies, and repeats the process during both their first- and second-year studies.
Guest Lecture Video: Sara Hendren
On February 9, 2022, MFA Products of Design was pleased to host a guest lecture by writer, educator, and advocate Sara Hendren. Sara is a humanist in tech—an artist, design researcher, writer, and professor at Olin College of Engineering. Her book What Can A Body Do? How We Meet the Built World explores the places where disability shows up in design.
Guest Lecture Video: Helen Armstrong
On January 20, 2022, MFA Products of Design was pleased to host a guest lecture by writer & educator Helen Armstrong. Helen is a professor of graphic design at North Carolina State University. She authored Graphic Design Theory: Readings from the Field (Princeton Architectural Press, 2009) and co-authored Participate: Designing with User-Generated Content (Princeton Architectural Press, 2011) with Zvezdana Stojmirovic.
