New MoMA Product: Modern Geometry Jewelry Stand by Nihaarika Arora ‘23

Nihaarika Arora graduated from MFA Products of Design in May 2023, where she worked to develop her Modern Geometry Jewelry Stand, now available exclusively on the MoMA Design Store website.

The product took shape in our first-year course, 3D Product Design II, taught by faculty member Sinclair Smith and in coordination with Chay Costello, MoMA’s Associate Director of Merchandising.

The powder-coated stand, which comes in teal and lavender, is designed to easily hang necklaces and bracelets from the small hooks, or attach stud earrings through the numerous geometric-shaped perforations.

Arora, a multidisciplinary designer and material enthusiast, says that her passion is “to design with purpose by collaborating with communities to reimagine equitable and sustainable futures.”

Three pairs of earrings and a gold chain necklace hanging on the stand.

Arora, who arrived at Products of Design with a background in consumer product manufacturing, is now a Product Designer & UX Strategist. During her time in the program, she was part of the team behind Ora, An Intuitive Redesign of the Menstrual Cup and Applicator, which was a winner of the 2023 Core77 Design Awards.

Following her time at Products of Design, Arora became a product designer at DesignStyles Homes and more recently, stepped into a new position as an industrial designer at Core Home.
